Your loved one asks the same question repeatedly, and no matter how patiently you answer, they can’t seem to remember.
They seem like a different person—sometimes frustrated, sometimes withdrawn—and you’re left unsure of how to respond.
Simple, everyday tasks that used to be easy for them now seem overwhelming, and you don’t know how to help without adding to their stress.
Don't worry, I can help!
Hi, I’m Jennifer Wilson, born and raised in Boise, Idaho. After living in states like Oregon, Washington, Michigan, and Florida, I found my way back to Boise in 2012, where I've loved raising my three kids, now thriving young adults.
My journey into memory care began by teaching Certified Nursing Assistant courses at the College of Western Idaho. From there, I became an activities director in memory care, focusing on reducing medications through meaningful activities and behavioral support. Over the past 10 years, I've refined my approach, helping hundreds of families transform what can feel like an overwhelming time into a supportive and even enjoyable experience with their loved ones.
I know what it feels like to be in the trenches, and I understand how critical it is to have reliable, consistent support for your loved one. I’m here to help you navigate these challenges and make every moment count. Together, we can turn this life change into a positive journey that strengthens your connection with your loved one.
"Loved everything so far"
"Although I am a retired physician with an abiding interest in gerontology and geriatric medicine, I found my time spent with Jen to be invaluable in orienting me to the reality of having my wife living apart from me in a memory care unit and needing to learn how to optimize my relationships and interactions with her under these very different conditions."

"Jennifer gave me professional, compassionate answers."
“When my mother was first diagnosed with dementia, I had so many questions about what to expect in terms of progression of the disease and the best options for her care. Jennifer gave me professional, compassionate answers. It’s frightening to hear the term “dementia” used to describe a loved one, but Jennifer eased some of my fears by educating me on what to expect.”

"Her approach to dementia care and training is unique and effective."
"Having worked with Jen for (5) years, I can attest to the quality of dementia training she provides. Her approach to dementia care and training is unique and effective. She allows the person living with dementia to feel valued while adding to their quality of life. The way she approaches the family/spouses/caregivers is with great respect, empathy and compassion. I'm thrilled so many others will have the opportunity to learn from Jen!”

The placement of a beloved family member in memory care because of moderately severe or advanced dementia presents very challenging adjustments in relationships and daily life.
Preparation in anticipation of this event by reading and conversation with others who have had to experience the inevitable emotional and physical challenges can help, but in my own experience it was not enough, especially in the first few days and weeks after admission to a memory care unit.
This is where Jennifer Wilson, who offered very helpful analysis and advice under the auspices of In The Moment Dementia Consulting, can be extremely helpful to spouses, family members, and friends.
Jen has many years of experience in residential care, particularly memory care My personal experience with Jen’s consulting was very favorable and very helpful.
We had several telephone conversations, and there were three consultations in person.
In our case, she began with are careful assessment of who my wife and I are as individuals and as a married couple including our shared interests and activities.
She offered approaches to continuing to have loving conversations and strategies to promote positive interactions during visits. She offered advice about adjusting expectations for the future and recommendations to be shared with friends and other family when they visit. She provided very specific advice on how to stage progressive extension of outings from the memory care unit, initially within the larger facility and gradually to include possibly longer trips to a favorite place or friend’s house.
This initial session was followed by a session with my wife to assess the level of cognitive capacity and many other aspects of her overall awareness. Finally, Jen and I met again to review that assessment and to provide follow-up recommendations.Although I am a retired physician with an abiding interest in gerontology and geriatric medicine, I found my time spent with Jen to be invaluable in orienting me to the reality of having my wife living apart from me in a memory care unit and needing to learn how to optimize my relationship and interactions with her under these very different conditions.Without reservation, I can recommend spending time with Jen to anyone who is having to go through the experience of placing a loved one in memory care. I also believe that physicians who care for patients with dementia will benefit from the curriculum that she has created as they help their patients and their families adjust to placement in a memory care unit.
